For girls and boys 8 – 14 years of age (Birth years 2011-2018) who want to experience track and field.  Our focus is on continual self-improvement and developing a love for a fitness activity that can last a lifetime. It’s your chance to run, jump, throw and learn a great sport! We ask that all runners be able to complete one lap of the track unassisted to begin in our program.

Practice Dates:
3 practices per week, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday  6:00-7:15 pm beginning March 10th and lasting through July (practices finish in June for athletes not competing in districts, regionals and nationals).

Where:
Catonsville High School Track (any location changes due to conflicting CHS sporting events will be announced, usually moving practice over to Field Hockey Field next to tennis courts @ CHS)

Meets:
2-4 meets per month, most meets are on the weekends, usually Sunday afternoons in Maryland.  Some Saturday meets will be available. These are open invitational meets, but all levels of experience are welcome. We expect runners to participate in meets but understand everyone cannot make every meet.  Meets will start early-April and go until late-June with championship meets in July. Athletes must attend three regular season meets to be eligible to attend AUU districts.

Each athlete is responsible for his or her own meet registration fees. The meet registration fees are typically $10-$15 to be paid the Wednesday prior to the meet.  A uniform top is required at every meet.

Qualifications and Championship meets: The team is an AAU club and will participate in the AAU qualifier events. The team is registered with USATF and athletes interested in USATF qualifiers may participate, but individual USATF membership fees will need to be provided by parents.

Registration Information:
Registration online starts Jan 1, 2026

Participant Cost:
2026 Basic Fee: $80.00 for all athletes.  Uniform can be purchased for $30 a piece (top & bottom separate).  Some athletes choose to wear a different style of shorts.  We have a limited amount of older and donated uniforms on hand. These will be available at the team night at road runner and throughout the season. Uniform tops are for all track meets.

Other Details:
A copy of your child’s birth certificate is required by USATF/AAU for proof of age before participating in any track meets. (Returning athletes have a birth certificate on file.)  If your athlete is invited to a meet that requires a birth certificate, you will be notified.

Questions:  catonsville.cougars@gmail.com

**Athletes must be turning 8 years old in 2026 (birth year 2018).  If you register a child younger than this without explicit permission from the coaching staff, your registration fee will be returned.
