People who practice Pilates feel that it builds long, lean muscles, strengthens the core, increases flexibility, improves posture, and may even prevent back injury and help manage some forms of chronic pain. Pilates also enhances the mind-body connection, and like yoga, can relieve stress and muscle tension. The traditional Pilates workout consists of standing and mat exercises, with props. They are non-impact exercises that can be easily modified to accommodate students of a wide range of abilities, including athletes of all types, men and women, individuals recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic conditions, seniors, pregnant students, and new moms seeking to repair core strength and stability after baby.
When: Monday Evenings 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.; Saturday Mornings 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Where:Hillcrest Elementary (circular Recreation room, left side of school, across from trailers)
Participant Cost: $60 for 6 months, unlimited Monday and Saturday classes
Equipment required:Water bottle, safe/snug clothing. We supply all mats and props.
